Wanted: Drums and Bass for Unusual Project

Meets

Traverse City MI

Description

I've tried this idea a few times with no success, but I'm quite certain it would work. First, don't apply unless your heart is in this 100% which means you can show up on time ready to rehearse already knowing the music. Rehearsal is just that, not an excuse to drink, smoke and chat. Second, I want to play gigs, not basements and garages. By the time we have enough for a set, I'm hoping the bars can have us. If you are still with me, here is the idea: Power trio with me on guitar and vocals as well as a singing drummer and singing bass player. I want to keep it simple so you don't need a Neil Peart set up or an 8X10 Ampeg rig. Set up and tear down should be a nuisance, not a chore. Finally, the music: Take an established band (I'm thinking of Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc.) with a deep catalog and play the songs as surf rock or rockabilly (NOT country!!!). I believe people only want to hear what they already know, but add a gimmick to get new fans. I expect this to be a band where we all have input (other than the main premise). I want to keep it local as long drives tend to create issues so Traverse City area unless you really love to drive. I know this probably makes me sound like a dictator, but I've been in a lot of bands over the years and many of the musicians were flakes that simply gummed up the works. Thanks in advance. Shoot me an email here is interested.
