Description

SistaStrings Farewell Matinee Show - an intimate in-person performance. SistaStrings is moving to Nashville! The time has come for SistaStrings to take their show on the road. They’ve spent the last seven years exploring and experimenting, creating a sound that is uniquely theirs. Now they’ll focus on sharing that beyond Wisconsin. This farewell show will be an evening to celebrate with Milwaukee, the duo has described it as “Our love letter our home.” The musicians that have turned into SistaStrings’ chosen family are all involved in the show. There will be new arrangements, old favorites and just a general release as the grip of the pandemic loosens it’s hold on our lives. SistaStrings may be moving their home base to Nashville, but they’ll always be the Ross girls from Milwaukee, WI. The sound of SistaStrings can’t be described in one word. The (until now)Milwaukee based sister duo combines Classical music, R&B, and a touch of Gospel to create a unique, lush sound with a vibe. Thick string harmonies created by violin and cello, and powerful, soulful voices initiate the SistaStrings musical journey that listeners are blessed to venture on. The classical background that the two sisters have allows them to command their instruments at will. Between the two of them, they have performed in some of the most reputable halls, including Carnegie Hall and in their classical career they have soloed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Madison Symphony Orchestra. SistaStrings has performed with Malik Yusef, opened for Black Violin, Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony, Lupe Fiasco, BJ The Chicago Kid, and The Roots. Outreach and representation are important to these two young ladies as African American string players. The ladies are advocates for diversity in the arts and promote social justice in all that they do musically. Vocals, Violin / Chauntee Ross Vocals, Cello / Monique Ross Klassik is a multi-instrumentalist performing artist and producer, who draws upon years of jazz study and an affinity for hip-hop/soul to soundtrack life. His most recent album (QUIET, 2019) was named the #1 album of 2019 by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and garnered awards for Best Solo Artist and Critic’s Choice for Album of the Year at the 2019 Radio Milwaukee Music Awards. A true class act, Klassik works to stir the souls of listeners into action with empathy, passion, and purpose through his own self-reflective sonic art.
