Celebrate the completion of the shoreline restoration project that deepens our connection to Carter’s Creek.
This spring, the Tides Inn embarked on a shoreline restoration project that deepens
our connection to Carter’s Creek and the
greater Chesapeake Bay region. The $3.6
million project includes a “living shoreline,”
oyster reef, beach restoration, hands-on
educational programming and community
partnerships, especially with Friends of the
Rappahannock (FOR).
12:00pm Community Planting Day: An
opportunity to get your hands
dirty and have a hand in creating
a living shoreline for generations
to enjoy! You will help plant the
new wetlands area - along with
community members and FOR
representatives. Boats will be
available for small groups to
view the oyster reef and living
shoreline.
5:00pm Live music on the beach – with a
visit from Rosie, the resort’s vintage
bar cart.
5:30pm Ribbon cutting and presentation.
6:00pm Oyster Roast: Executive Chef
Truman Jones and team present
the best from our coast and local
farmers at a “low-country boil”
dinner, including Rappahannock
River oysters, cocktail stations and
musical entertainment.
