Join us for volunteering outdoors in our garden. Tasks include planting, cleaning, trimming, watering and painting. For ages 6-12. DESCRIPTION Join Concrete Safaris for our Youth Drop In Sessions to spruce up our gardens! We will be doing a variety of garden activities that consist of cleaning raised beds, planting herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers, spreading mulch, picking up trash, weeding, and more. Dress in layers if it is cold out and bring a water bottle. Activities vary. This session is for youth ages 6-12. Parents must drop off and pick up their children or can sit and observe nearby! WHEN: Friday, May 21, 2021, 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm WHERE: Meet outside 1775 Third Avenue at 98th Street and Third Avenue just east of the flag pole within Washington Houses. If you arrive after the start time for this event, meet us in the gardens just south of the flag pole between 98th and 97th Streets and Third and Second Avenues. These gardens can be seen from the meeting point. Mad Fun Farm, 1775 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10029 WHAT: Youth will learn garden activities at Mad Fun Farm such as how to plant, how to create a butterfly garden, the magic of compost, and other wonders of green spaces. BRING WITH YOU: Please wear comfortable clothes, proper footwear, preferably work boots or sturdy sneakers, and bring a reusable water bottle. Food will not be provided, so bring a snack!
