Marina Technician/ Grounds crew Job Post Company Description The Schuyler Yacht Basin is in the historic village of Schuylerville, New York situated at the confluence of the Hudson River and Fish Creek. SYB is a multifunctional resort offering seasonal or transient boat slips, RV campsites, and our own shipping container tiny cabins. We also offer small watercraft rentals including Old Town canoes, kayaks and Surftech paddleboards perfect for exploring the local waterways. It is our mission to provide a unique and fun resort experience for those seeking to explore upstate New York and all the activities that it has to offer. Primarily, the river provides for a multitude of water recreation opportunities. In addition, being located just south of the Adirondack State Park and West of the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont there are many options for exploring hiking opportunities, biking, or just taking in the stunning landscapes. Given our premium location we are the perfect launching point for any number of adventures. Worthy of attention the proximity to downtown Saratoga Springs and the Saratoga Racecourse is a notable draw for visitors to come and enjoy while the stay with us. Only a 15–20-minute drive you can spend the day betting on horses and engrossing yourself in the fanfare that is this celebrated town. Job Description We are in search of a part time marina technician/grounds crew member to execute the day-to-day responsibilities of interacting with and serving our guests that travel to the resort via watercraft. This includes being able to help the guests dock their boats, connect to the services such as water and electric, and sell and pump gas for their boats. Also included in this position is the general maintenance and care of the facilities. Upkeep of the marina area which involves everything from garbage disposal, dock cleaning, to mowing the grass. In the role of grounds crew, you will be asked to do some simple landscaping tasks like weeding and watering flowers, raking leaves and litter, mowing the grass and any other general labor that the operations director deems necessary. Not just in the marina area but around the resort completely including RV and shipping container cabins grounds. The total area requiring attention is approximately 300 square yards. This Job will require some heavy lifting. We also ask of at least a 24 hour per week commitment which could evolve into more hours depending on seasonal demands Job Responsibilities • Reports to the Director of Operations • Provides marina guests with fuel and any other marina services needed • Upkeeps the cleanliness and organization of the marina and grounds • Upholds customer service standards of Schuyler Yacht Basin and acts as the primary interface for Marina and RV camp customers • Regularly complete grounds maintenance • May be required to lift heavy objects over 50lbs, move landscaping materials and operate heavy machineryWorks in general as a multifaceted employee to provide assistance wherever needed • Punctuality and committing to at least 24 hours a week. Qualifications • Can lift 50lbs • Has experience working with or around boats or in a marina • Has experience using landscaping tools and equipment • Basic use of tools • High school Diploma or GED • Is comfortable interacting and serving the guests of our resort • Problem Solving and Critical thinking skills • Knowledge of the Schuylerville and surrounding areas • Can commit to a 24 hour a week schedule • Friendly demeanor and willingness to work hard Compensation Starting at $15.00/hr. plus tips giving potential to bring the wage to around $20 hour.
