Interested in learning more about getting your CFRE? Join us as Jennifer Martin, CFRE explains the process. A CFRE certification assures the public that you/your organization demonstrates specific knowledge and credibility required of a practitioner at a certain level, and is the only accredited certification for fundraising professionals. The process takes many steps including · Application which involves may steps to this process alone!) · Approvals · Examination · Accountability standards · Recertification Jennifer will guide us through the process, offer her experience, application advices, exam tips, and more. The biggest challenge is where do I get started and some simple do’s and don’ts! About our Speaker: For more than a dozen years, Jennifer Martin, CFRE, has utilized her public relations, marketing and fundraising skills helping to grow nonprofit organizations in North Louisiana. Jennifer is the Director of Development for Shriners Hospitals for Children – Shreveport. Jennifer has been an AFP member for many years. She won the Chamberlain Scholarship in 2012, and earned her certification as a fundraising executive (CFRE) in 2014 after a few years in the field and completing all the prerequisite requirements, and is one of only a few in the area with this certification. She served as AFP President in 2016, and honored as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional in 2019 for National Philanthropy Day. She has mentored new members in donor relations, ethics, and strategic planning. She was selected as a 40 Under 40 Honoree in 2013 by the Young Professionals Initiative, while working for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse as the Director of Development and Marketing. Jennifer is a Past President for the South Shreveport Rotary Club and past Assistant Governor for Rotary District 6190. Jennifer serves on the board for Oakwood Home for Women, and volunteers with Christian Services. She is a proud graduate of LSU - Shreveport with a BA in Communications. Having worked in public relations, marketing, promotions, and more, Jennifer finds the most gratification in serving others through fundraising. She believes that happiness is a choice, not a destination, and that a person’s circumstances do not have to define them.
