Job Description Utility Hours 3:00pm-11:30 pm Mon-Fri one Day Off During The Week Saturday 12:00pm-8:30pm Responsible to: Maintenance Manager Reviewed: 2018 Job Qualifications: - Must have functional use of arms, legs, feet, hands, and fingers. - Possess or ability to obtain a Class B Commercial drivers license with air brake and passenger endorsements. - Must be able to qualify for employment by passing a D.O.T. physical and drug screen. - Must be able to fill out and maintain necessary written records. - High School graduate or equivalent. General Duties: The function of utility employees in maintenance are to assist the mechanics in the performance of maintenance, and the performance of daily cleaning, washing, fueling, and inspection of company vehicles. This also includes the cleaning of company buildings and maintenance of the company property throughout the service area. The following is a more detailed description of the utility workers function: Utility Work The function of Utility employees in the shop, are to assist the mechanics in the performance of maintenance, and the performance of daily cleaning, washing, fueling, and inspection of Authority vehicles. Duties also include cleaning of the Authority buildings, grounds and cleaning of other Authority property throughout the service area and grounds. The importance of functions performed by Utility employees cannot be overemphasized. Slipshod work and inattention to detail will soon tell in the appearance and operation of the Authority's vehicles and buildings. Every effort must be made to see that this work is done completely and thoroughly as scheduled. 1) Daily Bus Work - On each operating day, the following task must be accomplished on each vehicle that was in service that day. a) Sweep Bus - Entire interior to be carefully swept. Special attention to be paid to areas under seats, around seat legs and stanchions, and drivers compartment. b) Interior Inspection - While sweeping, the interior will be inspected for cut or torn seats, lost-and-found items, vandalism or other equipment defects. Those defects requiring repair will be written up on defect cards. Winter only: check salt supply and refill as necessary. Vehicles are to be checked for proper proof of insurance and registration papers. c) Clean Dash - The dashboard will be dusted and all papers, used transfers, and other junk discarded. d) Handrails and stanchions - All passenger handrails and stanchions will be wiped down. e) Fuel Bus - All vehicles will be fueled at the end of each operating day with the proper grade of gasoline or diesel fuel, and the amount properly recorded on the slips provided. f) Wash Bus - The exterior of each bus will be thoroughly washed and rinsed to remove accumulated road soil etc. (Note: This detail may be omitted when weather conditions result in buses not becoming dirty.) g) Clean Windows - All windows will be cleaned inside and out.
