CLASSIFICATION: GEOTECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DRILLER This is a senior-level position, in a geology related field, with opportunity for advancement. Looking for individuals who are self-motivated and show a willingness to learn. DUTIES: PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Work outside in all weather conditions • Exposure to moving mechanical parts • Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl • Lift and/or move up to 50-75 lbs. on a routine basis (and occasionally up to 100 lbs.) • Noise level in the work environment is often loud FIELD Responsible for a variety of assignments for conducting subsurface investigations, soil/ground water sampling, and monitoring well installation duties. Ability to operate a diverse range of geotechnical drilling rigs. Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. Lifting may include augers, rods, sampling equipment, tooling, and bags of materials. Connecting drilling augers and sample tooling using threaded, pinned and or bolted connections. Obtain, preserve, and transport both disturbed and undisturbed test samples from field to laboratory. Perform logging of geotechnical test boreholes. Shoveling of loose soil and other drill cuttings. Handling of materials including bagged or sacked Portland cement, grout, bentonite, well piping, and other items. Field work may be performed in all weather conditions from cold to hot, dry conditions to wet and from calm to moderate winds. Equipment and tooling cleaning and decontamination. SOIL LABORATORY / SHOP Perform light maintenance on drill rigs, sampling and tooling and other associated equipment. Learn and use basic soil laboratory testing procedures when not working on job sites. GENERAL Provide support for other activities of the company as time and availability permits. EDUCATION: Minimum requirement is a High School diploma. Background in geology and or general science is helpful. Geology and or Earth Science background preferred. CERTIFICATION / TRAINING: Ongoing training is provided based on obtaining certifications, this may include 40-hour HAZWOPER training, 8-hour retraining events, first aid and CPR training. Company paid training. OTHER: Desirable to have a Well Driller’s or equivalent license in one or more states, preferably in Nebraska and Iowa. Attend 40-hour Hazwoper training course and annual 8-hour Hazwoper retraining events. Desirable to have and maintain certification for first aid training and CPR training. A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is very desirable. Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record required. Ability to drive light to medium duty trucks.
