WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford's Morgan Tuscano, a sophomore on the Southern Connecticut State University softball team, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference's All-Rookie team, officials announced Wednesday. Teammates Jacqueline Dumont, a junior, and Jessica Perucki, a sophomore, also earned year-end honors from the NE-10. Dumont, a catcher, earned First Team All-Conference honors after a career year and became the 13th player in program history to earn First Team honors and the first since Alexa Bacoulis in 2019. Dumont led the Owls in seven major categories: batting average (.374), slugging percentage (.626), hits (34), RBIs (25), doubles (11), home runs (4) and total bases (57). Dumont finished the year second in the conference in RBI and doubles, fourth in hits and tied for fifth in home runs. Perucki earned Third Team All-Conference and All-Rookie honors after having a stellar breakout season. She is the Owls' 13th Third Team selection and the first since Giuliana D'Arcangelo in 2017. Perucki had an impressive season offensively and defensively seeing time both in the circle and in the designated player spot in the lineup. She collected seven wins and three saves while pitching and picked up 92 strikeouts in 87.1 innings pitched. Offensively, she was third on the team in RBI (13s), second behind Dumont in home runs (3) and picked up 15 hits. Tuscano, a Lyman Hall graduate, saw time at catcher, designated player and at third base. She was third on the team in batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.850) and slugging percentage (.442), while chipping in 14 hits and seven RBIs. The last time three Owls earned All-Conference honors in the same year was back in 2014 Sarah Koerner and Nicole Buch earned First Team honors, and Kaley Marden earned Second Team honors. In addition, the last duo to earn All-Rookie honors was Alexa Bacoulis and current Owl Liz DeRosa in 2019. They are also only the seventh and eighth players in program history to earn All-Rookie honors.
