New Haven Police Department Sgt. Shayna Kendall said earlier that detectives had gone to the address "looking to follow-up with an individual regarding an investigation." The person then "barricaded himself" inside. The New Haven Independent reported that neighbors said they'd seen officials in Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives jackets at the scene.
