Description
This nature-based experience is designed specifically for mental health professionals. The last year of COVID has impacted all of us and the delayed trauma response in both professionals and the the general population will stretch all of our skills and resources. This experience is created as a mini-retreat for professionals to offer participants time and space to regroup, experience stillness, and personal reflection in nature.. Reflection Riding is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in the Tennessee Valley - you will leave this place feeling grounded and refreshed. Through contemplative practices including a variety of meditations and nature art rituals, we will expand our mindfulness and presence with nature and ourselves while practicing skills that are transferrable to a clinical setting. Demonstrations of CBT, DBT and SFT techniques will be integrated with nature-based grounding. +All of the techniques used in this workshop can be applied or modified for the clinical practice setting with clients. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Identify ways to use a nature-based context for assessing and addressing mental health issues related to anxiety, depression, and trauma through Walk and Talk Therapy techniques. 2. Implement strategies for integrating CBT, DBT, and SFT into nature-based contemplative practices into a clinical context focusing on facilitating resilience and grounding. 3. Identify potential ethical considerations for using an integrative approach with clients and the overlap with burnout/vicarious trauma.
