Description
SANTA MONICA, CA — One person died in a multiple-vehicle crash on the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Santa Monica late Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 10 p.m. Wednesday near Centinela Avenue and prompted a SigAlert on the freeway for more than five hours before it reopened early Thursday, CHP reports. All eastbound lanes just west of Centinela were reopened about 3:25 a.m.
It's unclear what caused the crash. At least one person was trapped in a vehicle, a witness told CHP. Their name and age were not immediately released.
