MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1-8, Manhattan Beach-based Skechers has stepped up to support schools and teachers by raising funds through a nationwide register round-up at all Skechers retail stores. It is the company's first partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org. "Since the world came to a standstill, teachers have faced unimaginable challenges and have developed creative ways to quickly adapt, teach and engage with students virtually," Michael Greenberg, Skechers president told Patch. "Though we continue to inch our way towards familiar times, we must not forget to thank the influential mentors of 2020 whose ambitious changes, many which were done out of pocket, helped students get through an unusual year." The teachers and classrooms in need will be selected through AdoptAClassroom.org following the campaign. According to the campaign: "More than ever before, teachers deserve our thanks, doing amazing work every day, from finding fresh ways to better engage students online to building new lesson plans that keep kids excited about math and science. Teachers spend an average of $745 of their own money on supplies for their students each year and the pandemic has only increased spending for many teachers as school budgets have been cut and students' needs have become more complex." Because this is a register roundup, all donations will be coming from Skechers customers. The campaign runs through Saturday, May 8. You can show their support by visiting your local Skechers store and donating at checkout to AdoptAClassroom.org.
