PART-TIME SUMMER OPENING: June 21 - August 6, 2021 -- 8:00am - 12:30pm. May lead to full time during the 2021-22 school year! Position Summary Keshet is seeking LBS-1 licensed special education teachers to work with students in our self-contained special education classroom. The Teacher in Special Education will focus on student education and engagement with academic, nonacademic, social, health, behavioral and emotional needs of the students in the special education and general community environments. This position is for our extended school year program beginning June 21 – August 6; Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. In addition, we are also looking for a teacher for half the summer. Locations in Skokie (high school) and Northbrook (K-8). Teachers must have some experience working with students with significant special needs to include autism, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and behavioral challenges. May lead to full-time opportunities during the 2021-22 school year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Implementation of instructional, behavioral, daily living, personal care, independent living goals, as well as community-based instruction. Teachers are also responsible for managing schedules, implementing IEP goals, collecting data, and completing mandated paperwork. Will also include some lifting and physical management. Occupational, physical, and speech and language therapists, and social workers are on staff to meet the needs of each student. To help students make the transition from high school into the workforce, the Keshet High School employees with a vocational specialist who coordinates job training and experiences for the students within their community, providing a foundation of skills carried on through the Coe-Worker Keshet Transition Program. The Coe-Worker Keshet Transition Program is designed to provide the necessary support to ease the transition into the community for young adults (ages 18-21) after they complete high school.
