CLEVELAND — Starting Tuesday, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available at the mass vaccination clinic at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. The J&J vaccine will be available from May 11 through May 17. The vaccine is available to anyone 18 or older. After a brief pause, federal officials deemed the J&J vaccine safe for use. The risk of vaccine side-effects is "extremely low," according to medical experts. The clinic, located at 2000 Prospect Avenue, is accepting walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Patients can also be booked online at gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov or by calling 833-4-ASK-ODH. The Wolstein Center clinic is operated as a partnership between the state of Ohio, FEMA, the city of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and Cleveland State University. The clinic opened in mid-March 2021 and in its first six weeks of operation administered 237,000 first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The clinic could be extended into June and beyond if vaccine demand ramps up. However, Ohio has seen plummeting vaccination rates. When vaccination first opened to the general public, nearly 500,000 Ohioans were vaccinated in one week. During the final week of April, only 150,000 Ohioans were vaccinated, the Ohio Capital Journal reported.
