Manager for Comedy Club, 1 or 2 nights/week

We're a comedy club based in Tribeca looking for someone to manage just the show itself (ie, you won't manage restaurant/bar operations or waitstaff). This would require you to be at the venue from approximately 630pm-1130pm on Fridays and Saturdays (usually both nights, sometimes just one), during which time there will be two shows (usually; sometimes there may be one show, in which case you'd be there for around three hours instead of five). Responsibilities include: - set up room for comedy (sound check, put up signage, adjust lighting) - check in and seat customers - ensure show starts and ends on time - break down room after show - deal with any customer issues or complaints (very rare, but they do happen) - generally ensure the show runs smoothly and address any issues that arise among customers, comics, or restaurant staff Essential skills: - punctual - organized - friendly and extroverted (or can convincingly fake it :). This is a comedy club; people want to relax and laugh, and you'll be the first person they interact with when they walk in the door. Making them feel good off the bat is crucial - firm when necessary - as noted above, like any entertainment establishment, there are occasionally difficult customers. - love comedy. This job will feel a lot less like a job if you genuinely enjoy stand up comedy. We want you to have fun, not just for your own sake, but so that you're setting the tone for everyone else. Pay is $100 per night assuming we're doing two shows. Sometimes there may just be one show, in which case pay would be $50. And sometimes there may be three shows, in which case pay would be $150.
