I am looking for physically strong non-smoking young women to assist me with all aspects of personal care and daily living one to two 24 hour shifts weekdays or weekends. Each shift starts at 9 AM and ends 9 AM the next day. For example, you come in at 9 AM say on a Thursday, help me throughout the day, help me get to bed at night (I am a bit of a night person) then you sleep in the guest room and wake up when I need assistance during the night. You do not have to stay awake overnight but have to be a light sleeper to hear a call button and respond accordingly. 9 AM the next morning is the end of your shift. You would do a set day or two per week. There are many opportunities to work extra shifts if I need to fill in or wish to travel. The position would be from the week of June 6 through the first week in October. I'm an active 61 year old woman who lives with my husband. I need assistance with all aspects of my personal care, cooking, household chores that include occasional home maintenance, light repairs, and administrative tasks. I also need someone who can drive me in my van. There may also be opportunities for farther away travel with us. I use a power wheelchair and numerous home health gadgets. I work part-time as a singer/songwriter and disability consultant, and enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, and family. I like cooking, writing music, watching movies, reading, computer work, gardening, outdoor activities and such. I am a responsible employer with 35 years of experience hiring, training, and working with my assistants. I am looking for responsible, organized, careful, and meticulous people who respect my home and privacy. Personal Care does not only mean things like taking the person to the bathroom, it means assisting a person with a disability to do the things they would normally do themselves if they did not have a disability. I have my own private life, feelings and interests. I am one of those people with a disability that you may see at your job, or out to dinner, or at the beach. I live a very independent fulfilling life because I have Personal Assistants to help me. I am not looking for a companion - to do this job well you must be able to physically assist me and at the same time give me the privacy and space I and my loved ones need to function normally. I need you to, in a way, let me borrow your hands to help me do things my own way. I am married and my husband and I require the same privacy as any other couple would.
