Description
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing an orchard system and the corresponding team. Day-to-day responsibilities include outlining priorities, record keeping, irrigation work, soil health management and farming/orcharding. Communication and teamwork are key skills. The candidate should be an independent, motivated self-starter who values working in a “team” setting. Extensive work experience in orchard production is necessary. Bilingual communication skills are a plus. This is a full-time, year-round position. This position reports to the COO and President. Specific Duties include: • Manage orchards to ensure efficient/profitable operations while also meeting certification expectations for organics and food/human safety. • Lead the day-to-day orchard operations, including orchard renewal, crop management, crop protection, pest management, irrigation, block irrigation, harvest timing and post-harvest strategies. • Establish orchard production goals and direction while strategically planning projects with owner and management team. • Communicate and work with all levels of management. • Manage, develop, and document organic pest control plans to meet all organic certification requirements. • Manage orchard and farming activities with include, orchard and farm development, irrigation systems and implementation, chemical applications, and harvesting. • Monitor and develop systems to accommodate variable weather conditions, water supply, storage of crop and tree development and new legislation. Desired Qualifications/Requirements: • Working knowledge of modern, high-density tree fruit production practices • Strong leadership and decision-making skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to implement projects under pressure • Proficiency in English and Spanish, A BIG PLUS Job Type: Full-time with pay range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience Benefits: Medical Insurance Schedule: 8-10 hour shift and some weekends Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred) and License/Certification: Driver’s License (Preferred)
