This is an extremely shy but sweet cat that doesn't deserve to be put down. He is excessively shy... will run and hide at the slightest hint of company at your door... or the mailman... or a strong breeze. He isn't a good candidate for bustling homes with young children or dogs. He isn't a good candidate for homes with active social lives that have lots of friends and family visit. But he is a sweet cat... he will seek out your lap and purr loudly... offering his belly for rubs. He has never shown any aggression and is only 5 years old with lots of life left in him! He is a rescue that needed to stay with me (I've rescued cats in the HR area for over a decade) because he needed extra medical attention. He is neutered and was up to date on all his shots as of last year. He has a big male kitty buddy that he loves to tussle with - I can rehome both together if that makes any difference. This second cat is much more typical and would fit a wider range of adoptive families. Since I have rescued so many cats I was used to having multiple rooms in my home dedicated to quarantining new cats and sequestering those that didn't get along with others. That will no longer be an option as we are moving. I have committed to keeping my elderly cats who are in the sunset of their lives... I don't have a choice but to find him a new home but have failed again and again to do so. If you have a big heart and are able to take in this sweet loving cat please know it will take at least a few weeks for him to warm up to you. Providing him food and lots of space is the best way to earn his trust. If you expect him to climb on your lap within a few days of adopting him you will be disappointed... three adoptive homes have already returned him because of this. He needs a patient, quiet home and he will return that kindness with lots of couch snuggles, purring and belly rubs. Please consider being an Angel! He needs someone with a big heart!
