Wanted - Lead Guitarist for Weekly Jam Sessions

Lead guitarist wanted for blues/rock psychedelic improvisational jam band. We are a group of primarily retired folk who get together weekly for jam sessions on Friday afternoons from noon until about 4pm in Leland. Lineup is lead guitarist/vocal/harp, bassist, keyboardist, drums and sax. Currently the sax player is unavailable until the summer and the lead guitarist will be out for about a month or two on family business. We have been jamming in current lineup plus or minus, off and on or, for about two years or more. We are seeking a good lead guitarist (vocals a plus) who will work with us during this period and stay on to play as co-lead guitarist when he returns. We do play cover songs but we do not generally play rote note for note three-minute songs. Play Stones, Clapton, “appropriated” old blues songs, The Band, Dylan, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead and other songs. Open to suggestions. There is a lot of room for open improvisation. That said we are seeking someone who can transform these songs with us and knows how to jam outside the three-minute box and can share the song and works well with other players. You will note there is little to no commercial market….we play primarily to keep our brain neurons firing and have some fun. We do record all our sessions and pass them around to the band the following day. Non-smoking, low pressure, friendly, fun atmosphere and amps are not all at peak volume.
