Description

Please read entire post before emailing me. Located in independence This is Toby; Akbash/Anatolian Shepherd Mix. He was born September 2019. He is 1 yr and 9 months. I brought him home in November 2019. He grew up with livestock animals before bringing him home but in our home we don’t have livestock animals; he lives outdoors in a regular home in a small town. LGD: He is a livestock guardian dog but as mentioned above we do not have livestock animals. Not sure how he’d do if you have livestock animals. Other dogs, cats and kids: He’s a great strong 110 lb dog who gets along with 2 small (older) chihuahuas that also live here but he’s too big and doesn’t seem to understand that he hurts them when he plays with them. He’s really friendly but also a great guard dog especially at night. Not sure how he would get along with other pets; I am not sure how he’d react with other dogs since he seems to always be barking at the ones that pass by. He also barks at other dogs when he is taken out on his walks so a strong person will need to take him on a walk. Not sure how he will do around cats since we don’t have cats but I assume not well because he scares off the neighborhood cats. He’s great with kids but I would recommend a household with older kids & no pets due to his large size. Vet Visit: He’s up to date on all his shots + flu shot; he just went to the vet in February. (Picture attached to see email) Facts about Toby: He hates baths. Giving him baths is a real struggle. He also hates getting wet; when kids play with water guns, he runs away. He’s not scared or terrified, he just doesn’t like getting wet. He sheds a lot! One of the reasons he needs to be rehomed is because we live in a shared household and one of the residents allergies has gotten worse since Toby arrived. We are trying to move out soon but sadly can’t take him with us since the places we find with a large yard doesn’t fit our budget or the places we find that fit our budget doesn’t allow large dogs. Important: he is allergic to 2 brands of dog food (Ol’roy is one of them) but the food he currently eats & the vet said is great for him is: Purina Dog Chow (Around $23 for a 50lb bag.) He is not microchipped or fixed. He is not trained; he only likes to play so training has been hard. Outdoor/Indoor dog: Don’t know how he’d do as an indoor pet. He’s never been inside our home and knows he’s not allowed to come inside but he doesn’t mind since he loves being outdoors. Traveling in vehicles/crate: He needs to be in a crate when traveling in a vehicle. He doesn’t like traveling in vehicles so the only way for us to transport him somewhere is to put him in his crate. It is a real struggle to put him in his crate but he needs to travel in a crate. You will need to take him to his new home in a crate but if you don’t have a crate I have his that you can have. Please don’t message me asking me if I can “drop him off” at your house. I will not be able to transport him to your city/town since I don’t have a truck. You will need to meet him first & we can arrange a day for you to meet him and could possibly have him visit your home to see how he responds to your home/new environment. Weekends after 2:00 pm work best since we are not available during the weekdays. Please let me know at least 2 days in advance what would be a good day/time for you to meet Toby so I don’t make plans for that date and time. If you meet him and you decide you don’t want him, that is completely fine. I want him to go somewhere where he is happy but for his new parents to also be happy with him.  Only requirement I have for his new loving home is that he has a really large yard to run around & play in. If you have made it this far and think Toby is a right fit for you and your family, please answer the following questions. I will not respond to emails that have not responded to these questions: •What is his name? •When was he born? (Month/Year) •Do you have a large yard? Approximate size •Do you have an xl crate for him? Please feel free to message me if you have any questions, I will gladly answer them. Rehoming Fee of $325. Thank You!
