Butterfly World is located inside a County Park in the city of Coconut Creek, Florida. Established in 1988, we are the first butterfly facility in the western hemisphere and the largest butterfly and bird park globally! Butterfly World is seeking a part-time butterfly breeding assistant to join our team, working within our 3+ acre attraction! The butterfly breeding position doesn't open up that often. Butterfly breeding is a small department that relies heavily on each other to work as a team. You will spend half of your time indoors working in the laboratory performing your duties while Butterfly World guests observe through the lab windows. The other half is working outdoors in all weather conditions. Cleanliness is a must in this environment. No experience necessary and willing to train the right candidate. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: • Working with butterflies and their host plants • Touching and moving caterpillars • Gluing and hanging pupa for display • Washing and sanitizing containers using bleach • Lifting and moving potted plants • Keeping accurate records of breeding numbers • Department must meet weekly breeding quota • Answer butterfly questions over the phone or in-person regarding breeding or butterfly identification.
