We are inviting everyone and anyone who would like to join us in cleaning up our city and spreading kindness! I am so excited for this! I (Jess Jasso) am planning this event in honor of my birthday because I love spreading kindness, giving back to my hometown of CCTX, and I love meeting new people! We will meet at 8:30a on Saturday, May 8th at the Selena Memorial Statue in downtown Corpus Christi. This is a FREE event and everyone is welcome - families, children, schools, employees, non-profits, friends etc. A Message from Jess: I’d love to encourage you to do something a lot of us don’t do every day. 1 - Grab gloves 2 - Grab a trash bag 3 - If you cannot join us downtown then you can join by walking around your neighborhood and picking up trash for 15-30 minutes 4- Feel good knowing you did something good for your community and for yourself. ****** Benefits of walking outdoors: 1 - it improves our mood and makes us feel happier 2 - allows our mind to take a break from the things that mentally drain us 3 - reduces stress + lowers your blood pressure 4 - allows us to appreciate the beauty of nature 5 - you can say hello to a neighborhood and share a smile with them 6- the sunshine increases your vitamin D levels 7 - And exercise of course! Its great for our bodies to move! Reasons to pick up trash: 1) A sense of community by helping to keep it clean. 2) Teaches your children the importance of picking up after themselves and to feel as a larger part of the community, as they watch you do it. 3) Keeps toxins out of the planet. 4) If someone sees you doing it, they may be inspired to pick up trash one day as well – adding to the goodwill in your community. 5) Saves the water ways from pollutants. 9) Clean parks, streets and beaches are safer for our children, Garbage is not only dirty it can be sharp and dangerous. 10) Saves wild animals and fish from eating unnatural substances that destroy species. ***Most importantly. you will feel happy that you have GIVEN back. You gave to your community, your children, your planet and yourself.
