Cardiovascular Institute of the South Meridian (Meridian) to host Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings on May 13th & May 27th. Join Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Meridian for one of our Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings ! CIS will be providing FREE electrocardiogram (EKG), Limited ECHO & blood pressure screenings on May 13th & May 27th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An EKG is recommended for those with risk factors of heart disease, or those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat or heavy heartbeats. Limited echocardiograms will also be offered. Screening results will be reviewed onsite by CIS providers. Please allow around 30 minutes to complete all screenings. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
