Based on a real-life account, the film tells the harrowing true story of the hunt for a sadistic serial murderer terrorizing a small province in 1980’s South Korea. Following the paths of three increasingly desperate detectives, each desperately attempts to decipher the violent mind of the killer in a futile effort to solve the case. Starring Song Kang-ho, the movie is also noteworthy as the first of several successful collaborations between the Parasite star and Bong. Chilling even years after the real culprit was identified, Memories of Murder easily has easily earned its place as a modern cult masterpiece. The Frida Cinema is proud to present Memories of Murder as part of our Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month series of films recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
