A series of workshops aimed at supporting filmmakers currently working in the independent film space. Filmmaker Focus Workshops (cost $35.00) These workshops are designed to enhance the current skills and abilities of filmmakers. Each workshop will tackle a specific set of challenges and provide attendees with a unique learning opportunity. Each facilitator brings a level of experience and expertise that will help take your skills to the next level. 7:30am - 11am Breakfast Mixer/Drop-in Nickelodeon Theatre Lobby Before heading into today’s workshops, please come enjoy coffee and a light breakfast. Coffee and refreshments will be provided by Starbucks. 8am - 10am From Ideas to the Page: Screenplay Writing with Allen Johnson Theatre 1 This workshop is designed to aid entrepreneurial independent filmmakers in maximizing their ideas and creating a screenplay that accurately builds their characters and develops their character’s world. You will learn tools and strategies to put together a working screenplay for budgets and pre-production. 10am - 12pm Pre-Production with Wally Marzano Lesnevich Theatre 1 This workshop is designed to familiarize attendees with the nuts and bolts of the pre-production process, from call sheets to location clearing. 2:30pm - 4pm Pre-Production and Casting: Tips for Working with Casting Directors with Matt Sefick Matthew Sefick, CSA is a casting director based out of Charleston, SC.  In 2005 he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Media Arts. He has gained over 15 years of experience in the Film and Television Industry and is a member of the Casting Society of America he will provide tips and best practices for working with casting directors.  Theatre 1 4:30pm - 6pm How to Choose a Festival with Dan Brawley (Cuculoras film festival) The festival you choose can help determine who sees your film and how to strategically place it in the marketplace.
