MANHASSET, NY — The Broadcast Journalism Club at Manhasset Secondary School won a first-place Best Broadcast Package at Stony Brook University's Broadcast Awards for Senior High ceremony on April 31 for its production of "Good Morning Manhasset." The club, which is known as the Manhasset Broadcasting Company, took home one of the highest prizes in the competition, according to a Manhasset School District news release. The award comes during the first year of Manhasset's broadcast journalism program, which "marks a tremendous accomplishment," district officials said. The show premiered earlier this year, according to the secondary school's student website, Indian Ink. Stony Brook's awards honor Long Island high school broadcast programs, and the program looks to support growth among students and educators interested in broadcast journalism, video production, media, and communications, school district officials said. The program also provides learning opportunities to develop and improve skills in these fields, according to school district officials.
