LAKEWOOD, CO — Over the past two weeks, 633 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Lakewood, according to data from Jeffco Public Health. Since the county first started tracking the case data in early 2020, more than 13,500 Lakewood residents have tested positive for COVID-19, the agencies' reports show. Around 45,620 cases have been reported in Jefferson County, and 779 people have died due to COVID-19, according to state public health data. Around 66 percent of eligible Jeffco residents have received at least their first dose of the vaccine, and 49 percent are fully immunized. Some counties have higher rates due to higher populations of people ages 60 and older, and front-line workers. And some eligible Coloradans are choosing to hold off on getting vaccinated.
