Suicide Suspected After Body Found Near UCR-Palm Desert Campus

PALM DESERT, CA — A body found Wednesday morning near the UC Riverside-Palm Desert campus is being investigated as a suicide, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed. "This investigation is being handled as a suicide and no foul play is expected," Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro said in an emailed statement. The victim, identified only as an adult male, was found around 10:15 a.m. at Berger and Frank Sinatra drives. The area is near the UC Riverside-Palm Desert campus located at 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive. No further information was made available, and the victim's identity is pending notification of next of kin. News Channel 3 was the first on scene and confirmed a body in an open desert area near the campus.
