DEARBORN, MI — More than $50,000 is being awarded to 17 graduating high school seniors in Dearborn, two Henry Ford College nursing students and a military veteran attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn, the Rotary Club of Dearborn announced recently.
The scholarships are awarded in four merit-based categories, each of which is endowed by or honors a past Dearborn Rotarian. The awards range from $8,500 to $2,000 to be used for tuition, books or class fees.
Colleen Nieman, the 2020-21 Rotary Club of Dearborn president, credited Scholarship Chairperson Lee Hollmann and Board Vocational Director David Anderson as well as individual scholarship chairpersons with coordinating and reviewing the scholarship applications.
"They didn't miss a beat, given the need to adjust schedules and communications channels during the pandemic," she said.
