DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Mount Vernon Road and Woodrow Wilson Park in Lithia Springs will be closed for the next few days due to flooding caused by recent severe weather. "This is the only reported road and park closure we have in Douglas County as a result of flooding," Douglas County Communications Director Rick Martin said Wednesday . "It usually takes a couple of days for the water to recede, and then the road will need to be inspected by our Transportation Department for safety." Motorists should never drive across flooded roadways. It takes only about 6 inches of water to reach the bottom of most passenger vehicles, which can flood the exhaust and stall the engine.
