RYE BROOK, NY — The final public hearing on the proposed 2021-22 budget for the Rye Brook School District will be held Tuesday, May 11.
The meeting will detail the spending plan for the upcoming school year. The proposed budget is $51,169,419, with a 1.41 percent increase over the 2020-21 spending package.
School officials said the tax levy will increase by zero percent for the first time in more than 20 years if the budget is approved by voters later this month.
According to the district, the major driver of the modest budget increase is contractual salary obligations and the addition of five new positions, including two custodial and three teaching positions.
There are a total of two school board seats to be filled for three-year terms. The candidates for the school board are:

The annual budget vote and board election will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 18 at Bruno M. Ponteri Ridge Street School, in the gymnasium.
