Description

The Town of Essex is presently accepting applications for a part-time (5 hours per week) weekend position in the Central Services Department. The position will provide public restroom cleaning on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The position will also provide additional restroom cleaning during Town events, while weekday personnel staff is on vacation or out sick. The 2020-2021 hourly salary range offered is expected to be $18.37 - $23.62. Final salary determinations will be made based on applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individual must be flexible in their schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays and as Town events require. Candidate must be able to perform general cleaning in maintaining public restrooms, adjacent walks and grounds; maintain equipment in clean orderly and serviceable condition. Candidate Requirements Include: • Valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are furnished in written, oral and diagrammatic, or schedule form • A working knowledge of materials, equipment used in restroom cleaning, and custodial work • Ability to lift and/or carry objects of 25 to 50 pounds • A working knowledge of OSHA laws and related policies and procedures Application is required and may be obtained in the Selectmen’s Office Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm or on the Town of Essex website www.essexct.gov under employment opportunities.
