Gig Workers Collective, a worker lead non-profit, is looking for gig workers in Houston to participate in interviews next week - May 14, 17, 18 We are teaming up with another organization to research the issues in the gig economy. Interviews will be conducted in person near downtown Houston (location to be determined). Expenses for travel and time will be covered - $45 Visa Cards will be given to participants. Requirements: You need to have done gig work for longer than 60 days on any app. You can be active or inactive. If inactive, your last order/assignment needs to be completed within the last year. Time: We have several slots available to make it convenient. Interviews will last no longer than 1.5hrs (most will be concluded under 1hr). Reason: Your input will help us better address conditions all gig workers face. Interview questions will cover reasons for joining apps, earnings, expenses, the jobs they are assigned, workplace safety, job security, how the pandemic has affected their work, experience claiming unemployment insurance or pandemic unemployment assistance, and how problems working for the apps have affected their daily lives and their family.
