SALEM, MA — A Salem educator is a semifinalist for the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's 2022 Teacher of the Year award. Salem Witchcraft Heights Elementary School teacher Marta Garcia was one of 12 semifinals chosen, along with teachers from Falmouth, Boston, Pittsfield, Newton, Amherst, Cambridge, Arlington and Greenfield. "We have amazing teachers in our schools and we are so excited that Ms. Garcia is being recognized as one of the best in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts," Salem Superintendent of Schools Steve Zrike said. The semifinalists were announced in conjunction with National Teachers Appreciation Week.
