POLK COUNTY, FL — A 29-year-old woman of Polk City was killed early Tuesday on State Road 544 when she was thrown from her SUV in a crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The victim lost control of her vehicle on SR-544 as she took a left curve near 14th Street NW, according to investigators. Her SUV smashed into a concrete utility pole, spun and flipped over on 14th Street NW. She was thrown from her SUV as it flipped over. Authorities said she died at the crash location shortly after midnight. *In accordance with Marsy's Law, FHP does not release the name of victims involved in car crashes.
