REDMOND, WA — After nearly two years of construction work, the Redmond Pool is ready to reopen this week, with a few coronavirus-related safety measures in place.
The city pool, operated by WAVE Aquatics, closed in June 2019 to undergo two phases of significant improvements. The newly-completed facility includes an upgraded lobby and locker rooms, along with all-new mechanical and electrical systems, air units, windows and pool decks. The city also commissioned artists Pete Goldlust and Melanie Germond to create a new sculpture for the building's facade.
While coronavirus restrictions continue, the Redmond Pool will offer several activities by reservation only, including:
Public lap swimSenior swimsRecreational and competitive swim teamSwim lessonsHigh school swim and diveRentalsA complete list of activities is posted on the WAVE Aquatics website. Registration for swim lessons opens on May 10.
City officials plan to formally celebrate the pool's reopening during a ribbon-cutting event in the summer after the new art installation is complete.
