Vienna Election Results 2021: 3 Incumbents Reelected

VIENNA, VA — Three Vienna Town Council members were reelected in Tuesday's election. Nisha Patel, Steve Potter, and Howard Springsteen won the three seats up for grabs. David Patariu was the other candidate seeking a seat. Del. Mark Keam, who represents the Town of Vienna in the Virginia House of Delegates, congratulated the winners and thanked Patariu for running. He noted that this year is the last time Vienna's election will be held in May. He said state laws will require council and mayoral elections to happen at the same time as other federal, state or county elections in November, beginning next year. Town Council elections are held every year. Not all Town Council seats are up for election in the same year, as councilmembers serve staggered two-year terms. Polls were open at the Vienna Community Center from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Each voter could cast a vote for three councilmembers. The unofficial vote total was 1,311, which includes the absentee ballots requested and in-person voters. The voter total represented 28.8 percent of active registered voters.
