Press release from Norwalk Historical Society: May 3, 2021 What does Nathan Hale, Norwalk, and McKim, Mead & White have in common? Join the Norwalk Historical Society for the lecture, "The Story of the Nathan Hale Fountain" with local historian, Lisa Wilson Grant on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 5:30pm (EDT) via Zoom. The lecture will explore Nathan Hale's connection to Norwalk, the installation of the McKim, Mead & White designed Nathan Hale Memorial fountain by the DAR in 1901, the story of all the places the various parts of the fountain traveled to, and the perseverance of Lisa Wilson Grant to track down the missing fountain parts and return them to Norwalk for installation at Fodor Farm. The lecture will end with a Q & A. Free event but registration required at: www.norwalkhistoricalsociety.org. About the presenter: Lisa Wilson Grant is a lifelong Norwalk resident who enjoys art and history, and especially the combination of the two. Grant is an exhibiting member of the Rowayton Arts Center, a Commissioner in the Norwalk Historical Commission, Board Member/Trustee of Rowayton Historical Society, and Chair of the Roton Point History Committee. An avid quilter, she's been very prolific in recent years, usually including fabric from her mothers stash. Lisa Wilson Grant is the author of several local history books, "Images of America:Norwalk" which features vintage photographs of Norwalk, CT, and "Roton Point" a former amusement park which also was in Norwalk. Together with her husband Jordan, she draws landscape designs for Minuteman Land Services, Inc. A member of Rowayton Gardeners and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
