I bet you’ve never been on a garden tour in a former company town! Join us on June 5th to celebrate the beautiful weather and local gardens in the company town famous for building America’s most iconic bridges. Our Garden Tour starts at Roebling Museum where you will check in and get a map of the locations included on the tour as well as some historic highlights. Walk, drive, bike-- whatever you prefer! The Garden Tour is self-guided and you can come by anytime between 10am and 3pm. If you are interested in a guided tour, at 1pm we will be leading a group on a walking tour of the gardens. About the event: When the Roebling steel plant was open and homes in the company town were owned by the company, many of the workers and their families grew gardens with flowers as well as food. The Roebling Company would sponsor competitions to encourage residents to tend to their gardens and keep their properties looking well-cared-for. Continuing this tradition with our Garden Tour builds pride in our community and gives residents a chance to show off their green thumbs!
