The City Charter defines the governing system and structure as well as laws. The Annapolis City Charter can be found here. The Commission may make recommendations on laws may include election procedures, land-use policy, City administration procedures and even the manner by which the city budget is formulated and managed. At the conclusion of their work, the Commission will send their recommendations for revision to the City Council who may adopt proposals they deem appropriate. The Commission has until mid-September to complete their work. The Commission actively seeks public comment on possible revisions to the Charter. Residents are encouraged to submit comments online prior to Commission meetings (here) with an option to present live (virtual) testimony at the meeting. Virtual meetings begin at 6 p.m. on the following dates: Thursday, May 6 Tuesday, June 15 Thursday, August 5 Tuesday, May 18 Thursday, July 1 Tuesday, August 17 Thursday, June 3 Tuesday, July 20 Thursday, September 2 Comments can also be forwarded to the Commission, via email: [email protected]. ABOUT THE COMMISSION: The Commissioners possess a wide range of backgrounds and broad-based experience dealing with governance. According to Commission Chair Andrew Haire, "the Commission will look at the Charter with fresh eyes.
