Press release from the Summit Free Public Library: 01 May May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As researched by the World Health Organization, one in five individuals between the ages of 10-19 will experience some form of mental illness. WHO also identifies that suicide is the third leading cause of death for those between the ages of 15-19. Recognizing and addressing mental illness can be a challenging time for both teens and guardians. It is important for individuals experiencing symptoms to not be afraid to talk to a trusted adult or friend because it can help in creating a treatment plan which can greatly improve one's life. There are numerous resources that are available for teens and guardians.
