Daily coronavirus case numbers in Colorado have surged over the past several weeks, state public health officials said. Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, 829 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado. As of Sunday, 513,765 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,920,270 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 28,083 people have been hospitalized. At least half of all new cases are variants, public health officials said. More than 1.9 million — over 40 percent of the state's eligible population — are fully immunized. Around 37 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Sunday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
