JERSEY CITY, NJ — The "suspicious death" that occurred on Storms Avenue last week has been ruled a homicide according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. On April 27, just after 1:30 a.m. Jersey City police were called to a Storms Avenue apartment for a welfare check. According to the HCPO, police entered the apartment and found Benjamin Stone, 40, laying lifeless inside. The Regional Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death to be multiple blunt force trauma to the torso and the manner of death to be homicide. This is the seventh reported homicide in Jersey City this year. A GoFundMe has been created for Stone by his friends to help cover funeral costs and lawyer fees. "Benjamin Stone is our beautiful friend. He is a wonderful person-- a truly caring, hilarious, intelligent, talented, and above all-- a great friend who was loved by so many," the page reads. So far, the GoFundMe has raised $12,160 out of its $20,000 goal. The case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/.
