TINLEY PARK, IL — The Village of Tinley Park officially has a new mayor. The new Village Board of Trustees was sworn in during a ceremony Monday evening at the Tinley Park Convention Center— 18451 Convention Center Drive.
From trustee to mayor, Michael W. Glotz was sworn in as the 24th mayor of Tinley Park, succeeding Mayor Jacob Vandenberg. Prior to his election, Glotz also chaired the Public Works and Community Development committees. He has lived in Tinley Park since 1994.
Additionally, Village Clerk Kristin Thirion and Trustees Bill Brady, Dennis Mahoney and Colleen Sullivan were sworn in on Monday. They are joining Trustees Bill Brennan, Diane Galante and Michael Mueller, fully forming the brand-new village board.
"I have three words for this board: vision, ambition and goals," Glotz said at the inauguration. "We will be told certain things during our time on this board, and I want all of you to ignore the nay-sayers. People will tell you no, but I want you to tell them yes. You will hear that it can't be done, I want you to tell them that it can, and it will be done, and here is how we are going to do it."
Glotz went on to say, "Everything is possible if we work through it together as a team. There is nothing in life that is worthwhile unless we take risks ... don't be afraid to fail. Think outside the box and dream big."
The first board meeting as a complete village board will be held Tuesday, May 4.
