LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A Volo man who falsely claimed to be federal agent after getting pulled over for driving recklessly in Libertyville now faces felony charges, police said. Adrian Tostado, 29, of the 400 block of Niagara Drive in Volo, is charged with false personification of a peace officer, forgery, and illegal squealing/screeching of tires in connection with the April incident. At about 8:3o a.m. on April 22, an officer saw a vehicle turning east from southbound Milwaukee Avenue onto Park Avenue, according to a Libertyville Police Department report. The vehicle appeared to speed up while turning, which caused the tires to make a squealing noise and the back of the vehicle to fish-tail. Follow Libertyville Patch on Facebook The officer pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who was identified as Tostado. Tostado proceeded to tell the officer he was a federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and showed the officer an identification card. The officer checked with the ATF and learned Tostado was not employed as a federal agent there, according to the police report. Tostado was also driving on a revoked license, police said. Tostado's bond has been set at $50,000. He is next expected in court on May 19.
