PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining the mobile equipment fleet in a state readiness. Performs the appropriate vehicle/mobile equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Performs required vehicle/mobile equipment repair maintenance. Informs supervisor of vehicle condition that could impact readiness. Prepares all required daily/weekly operating reports as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. •Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures. Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems. •Maintain and repair chassis, frames and bodies. •Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters. •Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes and valves. •Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control; making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements. •Performs inspections on completed jobs; ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety codes. Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and repair activities in logs and/or incident reports. •Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors and customers KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Required Education: High School diploma/GED Additional Education Preferred: Some technical education preferred Required Work Experience: 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Required Training/Certifications: Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems and welding skills desired. Licenses Preferred: Class A CDL Required Computer and Software Skills: working proficiency with computers Travel Requirements: Minimal Additional Requirements: •Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English) •Familiarity with haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment •Ability to work independently, self-starter, yet able to participate within a team environment •Ability to operate equipment effectively •Must understand equipment functions and processes of the primary areas •Good communication •Strong ability to work self-directed. •Demonstrated problem solving skills and sound decision making based upon available •Flexible, able to adjust to changing priorities and propose improvement •Able to facilitate the collaboration of people in assigned •Set and possess high work •Customer focused, both internally and •While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently shovel for 3 minutes with an 8 lb. shovel, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust •While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration.
