ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving racial slurs, a domestic battery, a hospital battery, theft of signs, a stolen purse, an argument over a loose dog, a burglary, a dealership disturbance and a damaged bicycle. Here is information from the latest police reports: Racial slurs Frederick J. Schaft, 58, of Chicago, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave., on a charge of disorderly conduct (breach of peace). He was released on bond. According to a police report, the victim told Schaft to stop yelling racial slurs, but an intoxicated Schaft approached the victim and continued to yell. The victim was alarmed and disturbed by Schaft, who was taken into custody. Domestic battery Tamara Montenegro, 19, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West St. Charles on a charge of domestic battery. She was released on bond. According to a police report, a man said Montenegro struck him in the face. An officer saw a scratch on the man's face. Hospital battery Michael Wright, 35, of Villa Park, was cited about 6 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on a charge of aggravated battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Wright became irate and spit at a nurse in the emergency room. Hospital staff were able to restrain Wright, who was highly intoxicated. Theft Charles Bodach, 18, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of South York on charges of theft, consumption of alcohol by a minor, damage to city property and possession of a false identification. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Bodach was found in possession of the Elmhurst Park District's Safety Town sign. He admitted to damaging another sign. Police were called after they received a call about people trying to remove a street sign and a stop sign. Stolen purse A woman's purse was stolen from her unlocked car between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of North West Avenue. The thief entered through an open garage door. Argument over dog A resident in the 600 block of Comstock Avenue became irate when a neighbor's dog got loose. A confrontation ensued. The victim did not wish to sign a complaint, but wanted the incident document because the suspect was swearing and yelling at him. Burglary Elmhurst BMW, 500 W. Lake St., was burglarized about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, with a glass door on the west side of the building broken. Nothing was stolen. Officers reviewed video footage, which showed two suspects force entry while two others waited outside in a car. The case is pending an investigation. Dealership disturbance A disturbance happened at Ole Motors, 260 W. Grand Ave., about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The business said a person became irate and stated he had a gun in his car. An officer spoke with the suspect, who stated he was upset but denied making any statements about having a gun. The suspect was given a no trespass notice and left the business without any problems. Bicycle damaged A bicycle's rear tire was cut Friday night in the 100 block of Addison Avenue. The victim believed a group of boys was responsible, but did not wish to pursue charges. Shoplifting A Jewel-Osco employee told police that a woman stole merchandise about 4:30 p.m. Friday at the store, 153 E. Schiller St. She entered an older model red Chevrolet Blazer, which was driven by a man, and left east on Elmhurst Avenue. The woman was described as black, in her 50s, having long braided hair, and wearing a white hoodie and jeans.A man stole cigarettes from Thornton's gas station, 476 N. York St., at 4 a.m. Saturday. The man ran away on foot. He was described as white, 25 years old, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, having hazel eyes, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and tan boots.A man filled two reusable shopping bags with body wash products about 8 p.m. Saturday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. The man was described as black or Hispanic, 37 years old, 6 feet, 195 pounds, and wearing a blue baseball cap, a Chicago Bulls jersey, tan pants and blue and white tennis shoes. Fugitive bikers An officer tried to stop three motorcyclists about 8 p.m. Saturday at Villa and North for not having their registrations displayed. However, the suspects ran a red light and sped away. False identification Michelle Buttita, 20, of Itasca, and Isabella Bucaro, 20, of Arlington Heights, were cited about 1 a.m. Saturday at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison, on charges of false use of identification. They were released on bond. Samuel Dulle, 19, of Fort Worth, Texas, was cited shortly before midnight Saturday at Second and Addison on charges of possession of a fictitious identification and unlawful possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was released on bond. According to a police report, an officer saw Dulle walking with a large table umbrella and an open bottle of liquor. Obstructing police Alaina Carpenter, 20, of Grandville, Michigan, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison, on charges of obstructing a police officer and being a minor on licensed premises. She was released on bond. Driving violations Carlos Graham, 27, of Berkeley, was cited about 1 a.m. Thursday at Berteau and North on charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond.Tameka Adell, 41, of Berkeley, was cited about 6 a.m. Thursday at York and Lexington on a charge of driving with a suspended license. She was released on bond. Isaiah Salgado, 19, of Forest Park, was cited about 3 p.m. Thursday at Schiller and Palmer on charges of no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Christopher Diego, 21, of Northlake, was cited about 6 p.m. Thursday at York and Belden on charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana by a driver and unlawful use of a phone. He was released on bond. Luis Hernandez, 66, of Northlake, was cited about 2 p.m. Friday at York and Lake on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond. Adolfo Avitia-Gustavo, 24, of Chicago, was cited about 8 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of North York on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was released on bond. Kevin Terry, 43, of Gary, Indiana, was cited about 2 p.m. Saturday at Butterfield and Poplar on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, transportation of open alcohol and speeding. He was released on bond. According to a police report, an officer found a bottle of tequila in Terry's car. Raymond Pitts, 70, of Hillside, was cited about 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles and West on a charge of failure to exercise due car to avoid colliding with a bicyclist. He was released on bond. Ronaldo Gomez Chavez, 20, of Elmhurst, was cited about 9 p.m. Saturday at York and North End on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. He was released on bond. Byron Adonias, 23, of Villa Park, was cited about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Schiller and York on charges of no valid driver's license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He was released on bond. Nicola B. Fitzsimons, 34, of Wheaton, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Roosevelt and York on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. Arman Gafeney, 24, of Villa Park, was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday at Roosevelt and York on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. DUI Angel Santana, 45, of Chicago, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Berens Park, 493 Oaklawn, on charges of DUI, failure to report an accident to police, damage to city property and possession of open alcohol in public.
