DOYLESTOWN, PA — The research group Leapfrog has published its latest update to hospital safety grades, and Doylestown Hospital received the top mark. It's the seventh consecutive "A" grade for the local hospital. Leapfrog releases new safety ratings twice a year. Other Bucks County hospitals that got the top grade include St. Mary Medical Center and St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Just 56 hospitals across Pennsylvania received the top "A" grade for safety, the analysis shows. Specifically, the study ranked hospitals based on their ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries, and infections. To determine each grade, Leapfrog used up to 28 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources. When averaged, performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital's overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
