Jessica Bloomingdale Promoted To Warrington Police Sergeant

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Officer Jessica Bloomingdale has been promoted to Sergeant by the Warrington Township Police Department, the department announced on Friday. Bloomingdale becomes the first female sergeant in the department's 50-year history. "Sergeant Bloomingdale has worked very hard for this well-deserved promotion and has clearly demonstrated her potential to do great things for the department," Warrington Township Police Chief Daniel Friel said. "I wish her great success and look forward to working with her in her new role." Bloomingdale began her career with the WTPD in 2005, two years after graduating from the Delaware County Police Academy. She has served in the department's Detective Division, as a member of the Bucks County Critical Incident Stress Management Team and she is one of three WTPD officers to be a certified as a Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission instructor. Bloomingdale has taught courses at the Temple University Municipal Police Academy and the National Park Service Police Academy. Over the years, Bloomfield has worked on both drug and criminal matters for agencies like: the Bucks District Attorney's Office, the attorney general's office and the FBI. She has worked as a deputy with the federal government as part of the Bucks/Montgomery Counties Safe Street FBI Task Force and been a team leader in the Bucks County South Central Emergency Response Team's Hostage Negotiator Unit. Bloomingdale also works closely with the WTPD K9 Unit, helping to raise funds for the unit and serving as a "work mom" to police dogs Murphy and Jolie. "Sergeant Bloomingdale has exemplified what it means to be a police officer," said Max Lomax, a member and the board liaison of the Warrington Township Board of Supervisors. "Her training, on-the-job experience and demonstrated leadership skills facilitated her to rise to the top of the promotion list for sergeant and subsequent promotion to the rank by the chief of police. On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, we are very proud of Jessica and look forward to her continued growth as an officer and leader."
